I’ve worked in my favorite color scheme lately, black and white. I love the play of light in these two digital paintings. I was surprised how quickly I was able to copy the photo of the surfer. It was pretty fun and freestyle.

However, the botanical abstract below took me some time to paint the contrasts as I imagined. I tried using the same colors that were in the photo and wasn’t really pleased with the outcome. However I forced my self to continue. When I thought I was at a good stopping point I moved the digital art over to Photoshop’s Bridge program to prepare for posting in my shop. That’s when I accidentally turned the image black and white. I loved it! So I took it back to my paint program and worked on it some more. This image is where I stopped painting. Yep, a mistake led me to create something that makes me smile.
